Model United Nations

A deeper look into MUN

About Model UN

Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation where students role-play as diplomats representing different countries in the United Nations. Participants debate global issues, negotiate with other delegates, and write resolutions to address international challenges. MUN helps students develop public speaking, research, critical thinking, negotiation, and leadership skills while learning about diplomacy and world affairs.

I have attended 3 Conferences for MUN: GMUN (October 2025), CAHSMUN (April 2026), and BMUN (May 2026).

Since joining Shawnigan Lake School, Model United Nations has become one of the most meaningful parts of my education. Through MUN, I have grown more confident in public speaking, debating, and working with others while developing a much deeper understanding of global issues and international relations. The opportunities and support at Shawnigan Lake School have inspired me to become more engaged in world affairs and have strengthened my interest in diplomacy and making a positive impact on the international community. By traveling out of campus to places I have never seen before to experience and understand MUN, my understanding of Model United Nations and world affairs has grown.
